You'll find that the most common game played in the casinos is blackjack. It's an exciting card game that involves both luck and skill. There's not really that many rules you have to learn in order to play the game. And, you don't have to be in a casino to play blackjack.
The object of blackjack is the get a total of twenty-one. If all your cards add up to a total of twenty-one you win the game. There are different ways to get a total of twenty-one. It is possible to get twenty-one with just two cards or as many as six cards. Each card has a different value. All face cards and tens count for ten points. All other cards count for their face value. Aces count as either eleven, or one. Blackjack is when you get an ace and a face card. This is the ultimate winning hand in the game of blackjack.
To start the game you are dealt two cards. The first one is dealt face down and the other is dealt face up. You look at your two cards and decide to "hit" or "stay." To "hit" means to get another card face up. If you "stay" you will not get another card for that hand. If you "hit" and go over a total of twenty-one you automatically lose the game. Usually you will be competing against the dealer of the cards and you are trying to get twenty-one or, at least, closer to a total of twenty-one than him.
Betting is unique in different casinos and can also be different at each table you play. Usually you will start with a minimum bet of 2 dollars and the minimum at other tables can be 5-20-100 dollars or even more. After you see your cards you can either keep "hitting" or "stay" with the cards you have. Or, you may "double down" on your hand. If you double down that means you are getting only one more card, and you have to double your bet. Doubling down is a good idea when you have a total of eleven or maybe ten with your first two cards. If you are dealt two aces it is probably a good idea to "split." This means you will take your first two dealt cards and split them and play two new hands using those two cards. You will have to place the same bet on one of the new hands. In this way, you can make more money with a good "split" hand.
If you are, indeed, playing blackjack in a casino then there are some more rules you must know. In this case, the dealer has a few specific rules he must play by. He must keep "hitting" his hand until he has at least seventeen. Once he gets a total of seventeen or more he must stop hitting. You as a player do not know what the dealer has because one of his cards is face down, but you know he has at least seventeen.
Blackjack is an exciting game to play for money in a casino and you can also play blackjack with your family and friends at home just for fun
